the fragility of what to come
the fragility of what to come (2026)
limited edition of 20 diptychs
Eventually the composition was there and the colours felt right. And then something shifted. Until that moment, I had only been looking at the red petals. Suddenly the flower was no longer a flower. The black centre demanded all my attention, as if it almost sucked me in. It had become a void surrounded by reds.
This work is about hope. It made me realise that hope is a future that has not yet taken shape. A collection of wishes, spoken with the best intentions, knowing they may never become reality. Hope doesn't erase uncertainty, but it gives us the courage to face the unknown. Hope and uncertainty are inextricably linked and that is why this work had to be a diptych.
